This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store, process, and protect your personal information when you visit our website, connect your social media accounts, generate AI content, and schedule or publish posts across platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information necessary to provide you with seamless social media management and AI assistance:

• Account Information: Name, email address, password hash, profile details, and account preferences when registering.
• Social Media Credentials & OAuth Tokens: When you connect Facebook or Instagram, we receive secure OAuth access tokens, your platform user ID, connected Page IDs, and page names provided by Meta Graph API. We never see or store your social media account passwords.
• Content & Scheduling Data: Text captions, images, media attachments, publish dates, and scheduled statuses of posts created within MediaBuddy.
• AI Generation Inputs: Prompts, tone preferences, and business context that you input to generate captions or social media drafts.
• Technical & Usage Data: IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, and interaction logs for security and performance optimization.

3. Meta (Facebook & Instagram) Platform Disclosures

MediaBuddy integrates with the Meta Graph API to allow you to manage your Facebook Pages and Instagram Professional accounts. In accordance with Meta Platform Terms:

• Permissions Requested: We only request permissions necessary for scheduled publishing and performance viewing, such as pages_show_list, pages_manage_posts, pages_read_engagement, instagram_basic, and instagram_content_publish.
• Purpose of Access: Tokens and Page data are strictly used to authenticate your connected pages and publish the posts you schedule or approve.
• No Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, or transfer Meta user data to any third-party data brokers or advertising networks.
• Meta Data Deletion Compliance: Users can revoke access or delete their Meta data at any time. See Section 7 and our dedicated User Data Deletion Instructions.

4. AI Content Generation & Third-Party APIs

MediaBuddy uses state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs) to generate caption suggestions, hashtag ideas, and content variations:

• Your prompt text and business context are sent via encrypted API to our AI model providers solely to generate your requested response.
• Our AI providers do not use your private company data or proprietary inputs to train public foundational models.
• You maintain full ownership of all content prompts and generated copy produced for your account.

5. How We Protect Your Data

We enforce multi-layered administrative, technical, and physical security standards to guard against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse:

• End-to-end encryption in transit via HTTPS/SSL.
• Hashed passwords using modern Bcrypt algorithms.
• Role-based access controls and isolated database instances.
• Regular automated backups and proactive vulnerability monitoring.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete a social account connection, all associated tokens and page contexts are immediately removed from our active database. If you delete your MediaBuddy account, all your personal data, scheduled posts, and credentials are permanently purged.

7. Your Rights & Data Deletion (GDPR / CCPA / Meta)

Depending on your location (including the EU/EEA, UK, and California), you hold statutory privacy rights:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we store about you.
• Right to Rectification: Update or correct inaccurate information in your Account Settings.
• Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request full deletion of your account and personal records.
• Right to Disconnect: You can disconnect your Facebook or Instagram accounts instantly from the Dashboard or by removing MediaBuddy in Facebook Settings.
